A special Christmas Carol  Service......

This time our Youth Society brought you colors of Christmas spirit. “Surageeyai Bilindu Handai” The Special Christmas Carol Service made your hearts embraced. We gifted you an unforgettable excitement that may lives on.

This occasion was held on 20th of December 2008 at the St.Sebastian’s Church ground. The most leading singers in Sri Lanka “The Nightingale” Latha Walpola, Nelu Adhikari, Kinsley Peris, Roshan Fernando and Aruna Thamel captured the night with “Angels” music. A very big thank to the leading home town artist Pushpa Rajapakse who joined with us to light the evening. Gorgeous dancing, heart toughing drama’s turned public in to deep meditation. The main media sponsors were Rupawahini Corporation, Sirasa TV ,Swarnawahini and City FM.

Most Rev. Dr. Valence Mendis Bishop of Chilaw was present to the event, and delivered a speech to the public. And once again thank you very much, who supported us to make this challenge a success.   

The Journey to the youth Resting Station.

The Youth Society of Katuneriya Parish went on their retreat to the Tewatta National Basilica on the 27^th  October 2008.Along with the members of the Youth Society, a number of Rev.Fathers and Rev.Sisters were participated.

The program was conducted by Rev. Father Amil Gomis who is the National Director of Youth. This retreat aimed to help youth to regain their life back on track with the help of God.

At the end of the retreat, the participants felt rejuvenated and connected with God.

The program ended with a Mass

Workshop on Youth and Media

Media influence youth of our society and because of that is important that we have an analysis of this phenomenon. How do we get our youth today to be analytical of the reality? How can we inculcate good values on our youth? These were the main ideas that were discussed at the above workshop organized by the youth society of Katuneriya Parish. The programme was conducted by Rev. Fr. Sriyanande, the National Director for Media at the invitation of the Rev, Fathers of Katuneriya Parish.

Workshop on Personality and you!

A Work Shop on personality was conducted by the Institute of Engineering Technology Katunayaka Lecturers, at the invitation of Rev. Father Anuna Gamlath the Director of Youth  Affairs in Chilaw Diocese. The work shop was held on 22^nd of February 2009 at the Jubilee hall in St. Sebastian’s church Katuneriya. Mr. Elmore Fernando the Vice Principal of IET & Mr. M.W. Weerarathne a senior Lecturer of IET, were the main resources persons at the occasion. Many young participants represented their Parishes.

“Do not waste your precious time pointing out other’s weak personalities. It’s better to take time to find out your own weaknesses. The society measures your personality by looking at your behaviour.”

These were the main ideas that we talk about in the work shop. Professional lectures explained their lecture to the young Catholic’s by using latest technology. Meanwhile three songs were performed by Pushpa Rajapakse, who is one of the leading artists of the home town. Finally workshop was ended by delivering the National Anthem.
